A critical link in industrial innovation

Nippon Gases is a leading producer and supplier of industrial gases, with a network of over 150 branches spread across 13 European countries. With over 3,000 employees, the company supports customers in various sectors such as chemicals, healthcare, food, electronics and energy. To ensure the reliability, safety and efficiency of its operations, Nippon Gases relies on a solid digital infrastructure for both its IT and OT environments.

The challenge: streamlining, scalability and less pressure on IT

Nippon Gases faced the challenge of modernising a highly fragmented network landscape. Due to historical mergers and local IT setups, branches were operating with different network infrastructures. This led to a high management burden, limited visibility and longer resolution times. At the same time, there was an increasing need for speed, standardisation and end-to-end security.

We wanted to harmonise our network infrastructure to improve network stability and the quality of support. Centralised management was impossible. We had to manage each country's network on a device-by-device basis", says Björn Dupont, IT Network & OT Services Manager at Nippon Gases.

The company wanted to simplify and automate the entire network for offices, laboratories, production facilities, trucks, pipelines and even ships. It was crucial to offer users a consistent digital experience and reduce the workload of IT teams.

The solution: AI-Native networking with Juniper and support from Nomios

Nippon Gases chose Juniper Networks' AI-Native network as the basis for its new network infrastructure, including Juniper EX switches and cloud-based management via Mist AI. This technology gives the organisation complete visibility, greater automation, faster problem detection and the ability to roll out new locations more quickly with less manual intervention.

Nomios was called in as a trusted advisor and logistics coordinator for the practical implementation of the project. From our central warehouse, we took care of the preparations and just-in-time delivery of all network components to sites across Europe. Nomios ensured structured, phased shipments tailored to Nippon Gases' schedule and actively supported the follow-up of queries, deviations and the availability of spare parts. Thanks to Nomios' operational support and strategic coordination with both the customer and the vendor, Nippon Gases was able to focus fully on the core of their network transformation.

The results: one platform, less complexity, faster action

The transition to a standardised AI-driven network platform not only offers Nippon Gases higher availability and security, but also significantly less complexity in day-to-day management. The use of Mist AI provides predictive insights, proactive problem detection and a drastic reduction in manual IT interventions. New sites can now be rolled out faster and the user experience is more consistent across all locations.

"Our company is very dynamic. We are building new factories and making acquisitions. IT does not always have a lot of lead time to meet business needs, and the Juniper network helps us implement new sites faster. We now have a stable network environment," says Björn Dupont.
