Infradata has started reducing its carbon dioxide (ecological) footprint. This is why the company has chosen to use a large quantity of energy-generating solar panels on the flat roof of the Infradata building. This will make the Infradata building’s ecological footprint positive.
The carbon footprint is a measure of the impact of human activity on the environment measured in greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide) quantities. The footprint is intended to visualize the effect that people and organizations have on the contribution of the greenhouse effect.
Infradata has been offering green networking solutions to its customers for some time now. Green networking is using or selecting energy-efficient network technologies or products and minimizing the use of resources where possible.
Offering green networking implies the following aspects:
- Network virtualization
- Use of server consolidation
- Upgrading of older equipment to newer, more energy-efficient network equipment
- Increasing efficiency through system management
“In recent years, the IT sector has come to understand that working in an environmentally friendly manner is a must. As the link between the network equipment suppliers and the service providers, we think it’s important to set a good example for everyone by making our own energy supply CO2-friendly as well, in addition to providing green networking,” says Sjors Teeuwen, Marketing Manager at Infradata. “If we all pitch in, enormous progress can be made now and in the future in regard to resolving many ecological problems.”
